Run-Swim-Run-Swim? Do you like to experience new sensations? Discover new sceneries and mix this with sporting disciplines? Now you can take your wetsuit and trainers out of the wardrobe, because we present you today with the SWIMRUN series.
SWIMRUN is a new sporting discipline which has been growing over the past years. Created in 2002 en Sweden, the results of those challenges start in a bar and end up becoming a reality; it was proposed to cover the distance between Sandhamn and Utö without any external support and jumping between the archipelagos which are crossed throughout the route.
Finally, in 2006, the madness became reality, with the first official SWIMRUN competition called “ÖTILLÖ” (meaning “island to island”) and in a few years it had grown all around the world, creating the SWIMRUN World Series

Find a partner and enjoy! It´s that simple. You two will have to always go together and cover the following sequence: run-swim-run-swim-run-swim etc… in a linear fashion, without changes and with all the necessary materials on the start line.
*To swim: swimming suit, wet suit, cap, googles (floats and hand fins optional)
*To run: Trainers with a with a good anti-slip sole
*Food, drinks and waterproof bag
*Compass (some races) and a whistle
Such has been its growth that trademarks have started to develop specific material for competition. So gone are the days when participants cut their wetsuits and pierced their trainers with 5mm diameter drills to drain water and keep warm.
Have you ever competed in this discipline? Share with us your experience.
