Trail Running in Domini d´Isards
Published on 01/07/2019 00:00
On Saturday it was time to watch the sun rise over the car, in silence and with the music turned off so as not to wake up our child. The sky is completely clear, so everything pointed to a great day ahead.
As we entered the Catalan pre-Pyrenees, I came across a dossier which someone had left on the table a few years ago, in which they talked about the Domini d'Isards, a trail-running stop in a small town in the heart of the Vall de Camprodón. A spectacular site where nature and tranquility coexist with the trail-running professionals who train in the valley.
Suddenly, between the mountains, I saw the belfry surrounded by four houses which make up the town of Espinavell; we had arrived and everything was ready for us to enjoy the Summer Training Camp.
As we have been doing since its inception, Runnerinn brings its experience as a store specialising in running and trail running to these events. And it offers the participants the opportunity to try and get to know the latest developments in materials on the market. And for this edition, we had a pleasant surprise for them, a test of the Suunto and Salomon brands.
After the rigorous and very punctual welcome, Eduard from Amer Sports presented us with the Salomon Sense Ride 2 shoes and the Suunto 9 watch, two of the most up-to-date products which thoroughly impressed those present.
The format is simple but effective: present the material, deliver a unit to each participant and go for a run. And so we did, we put on the trainers, set the clock and put ourselves in the hands of mountain runners Laia Andreu and Laia Aguilar, who livened up the departure with advice on ascent techniques, series and farleks.
The training camp is designed as an experience, where lovers of this sport can discover the environment, improve their race technique and expand their knowledge of everything to do with trail running, training and competition. This results in a very intense weekend where fun, training and feelings bring the best out of everyone.
Thus, the running sessions were complemented with the always-recommended guidelines on sports nutrition by Anna Grífols, the hypopressive and yoga sessions given by Núria Codina and Sonia Colomo, a very interesting talk on physiology of sport by Quim Hernández and a Xavier Villasevil server, I did a talk on electronic devices and training.
I want to thank Suunto, Garmin and Polar for being able to teach and give attendees the top clocks from each of them. The Suunto 9, The Garmin Fenix 5 Plus and the Polar Vantage V Titanium. Three watches hiding novelties that make them unique:
The Suunto 9, for the 120h duration of its battery.
The Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, for the possibility of carrying maps inside.
The Polar Vantage V for the function of calculating the power in the race.
If you want to know more about the content of the talk, you will have to come to the next edition, and if you like the mountain and a good meal I recommend you take a good trip and visit the restaurant Can Jordi; I have no words to describe how well we eat in every training camp. Thanks Eva.
For the moment I'll just tell you that we are working on reviews which go deeper into the material tested.
See you at the next Training Camp!
Health and kilometres.
